Transcendental Meditation Programme: Origin and History

The knowledge of this meditation originated in a pre-Indian culture / civilization known as the Vedic tradition.

Transcendental Meditation a Brief History Continued...

In the 1950's, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, an enlightened yogi from the Vedic tradition, began to introduce Transcendental Meditation to the world and, perhaps, for the first time this ancient meditation technique was made publicly available. Maharishi toured the world to spread the knowledge and benefits of this Transcendental Meditation Technique.

Maharishi took great care to uphold the purutiy of this ancient knowledge and to never allow the the TM technique to be taught incorrectly. In 1961, he began to train teachers to teach TM exactly as he did.

Now, thanks to Maharishi's foresight, the TM technique is taught today throughout the world just as it was thousands of years ago by enlightened sages of India.
